Describe your office space to us:

We are an interior design studio with offices in Dallas and Seattle, called Pulp Design Studios. Our Seattle studio is nestled in the historic Ballard neighborhood in Seattle. We’re surrounded by tons of great shops, hip bars, and amazing food. We have a small open studio that’s perfect for our boutique approach to design. It bright and warm with lots of dynamic details!

Where did the inspiration for your office space design come from?

It’s really about function for us. We prefer to have a neutral clean palette as a backdrop that doesn’t complete with the designs our team is creating for our clients and provides us with lots of storage for our design library and our projects. Since we have two offices under our belt, there was also a budget factor when it came to pulling our space together. We focused on a high/low approach with inexpensive furniture and a few gorgeous high-end pieces sprinkled in. For instance, we used ikea cabinets and added our own Pulp Home hardware to it. We also splurged on a stunning brass chandelier to set the tone for the space!

What stores or websites did you go to to purchase your office decor?

We purchased most of our furniture from IKEA, cb2, and Target. While our chandelier, starburst pulls, mirrors, and select lighting came from our shop pulphome.com. It allowed us to get that designer look, while not breaking the bank! We take the same approach to projects, but on a higher level. We feel like it’s important to save where you can and splurge on the pieces that you’ll love!

What is your favorite part/design of your office space and why?

My favorite part is really just the vibe. I love that we took an open square and turned it into jewel box studio that we can create in. After all, great design is not about the pieces but more about how you feel and use your space. It’s important to create an environment that’s happy and evokes the mood and feel that you need it to.

Do you feel that having a well designed and inspiring office has changed the way you and your employees work?

Absolutely! We’ve had to be strategic about our space and create a functional design library, along with ways to creatively store and swap out projects as we go back and forth between client and project focuses. It also sets an intimate and approachable feel for our team, which allows for great design and productivity dialogue. Not to mention, it just feels good when you’re surrounded by beautiful things.

If you could use one word to describe the feel of the office space, what would it be?

Dynamic… Both the style and the personalities of our team!

Tell us about your company and what it means to you to have a well-designed office space.

My company, Pulp Design Studios, is a national interior design firm focusing on residential, commercial, and hospitality design. My partner, Carolina Gentry, and I built our interior design firm around the motto: Curated Style, Meaningful Design, and Splendid Living. For us, a well designed office is key for us and our team of designers to not only have a beautiful space to create and function in, but also for our clients. We need to be precise, effective, and have a creative mindset so we’re able to approach their projects and provide them with the best value. Surroundings are everything to us…literally!
