a little piece of my trip to philly…
Hello friends! I’m back in action after a fun-filled (and unfortunately work-filled) vacation. As threatened promised, here is a quick photo recap of our day in downtown Philadelphia. I’ve been to these monuments countless times as a form of torture from my Dad growing up. But, somehow, it was fun going back and taking my husband and son. It was an eventful day!! Max, though looking great in these pics, was having a less than stellar day. He was teething and in a lot of pain… Poor guy. But, overall, it was a great day!
First stop: John’s Roast Pork for some legit philly cheesesteaks. Of course, we had to fuel up on a little Philly spirit before taking the city by storm.
Next stop… The Liberty Bell. When I was young it was outside and you could actually touch it. There taking a bit more care now and have built a museum to house it.
Here’s where the day gets interesting! We decided to take a leisurely carriage ride through the city. That horse looks sweet enough, right?
Well, those we’re that last shots of this happy family. We nearly perished on said carriage ride!! The horse got SPOOKED and reared back jack knifing the carriage, almost tipping it!! Then the horse ran into a car, took out the side mirror, and scraped his harness and bit down the entire side of this moving car. Kevin nearly took a whip to the eye. And, of course, I’m screaming at my Dad, who is holding Max, to JUMP!! Luckily a horse handler was nearby and finally got the horse under control and we continued the ride. Why did we stay on the carriage ride? No clue. But, I spent the rest of the ride completely traumatized. If only we had pictures of that near-death experience!
I know I have knack for drama…
But, it was THAT scary.
Next, we stopped by independence hall… which was covered in scaffolding! We also had to leave the tour because Max was having a moment. We totally got jipped. But, here are some really pretty pictures that make it look like a heavenly slice of history.
Here’s where it gets fun!! You can’t go to Philly without walking the steps that Rocky Balboa walked… We may have gone a little overboard and annoyed everyone around us by humming the Rocky tune. But, it was well worth it.
And, that’s Philadelphia in a nutshell…
Tomorrow I’m going to share a little piece of one of my favorite towns outside of Philly, called Newhope. It’s such a quaint artsy town with a ton of history!
