The Perfect Party Dress :: The Splendid List

With the upcoming POST Blogger Social, I am having a wardrobe dilemma. Literally. So, I thought I’d bring some friends in for a litte advice. Here’s what they shared as the perfect cocktail dress…
“Here is a Madewell dress that I’ve had my eye on all fall.  It’s the perfect go to dress for three simple reasons:
1.  I’m a sucker for anything with a touch of sparkle.
2.  You can dress it up with some simple jewelry, a faux fur stole and bold heels…or dress it down with a cardigan, belt, dark tights and some booties.
3.  The simple shape and waist detail are classic – meaning with a few accessories or layering changes, you can wear this baby for years to come.”
Jill,

“I’m obsessed with my H&M long leopard dress. For fancier events I can dress it up with a dressy flat sandal and gold jewelry and for more relaxed events I put on my suede Minnetonka fringe boots, a thick black braided belt, and a few braids in my hair for a more hippie vibe. This dress is so versatile, I wish I could wear this dress every day.”

Heather,
“I love this feminine silhouette, with pockets, by Emerson Made! This dress can go belted with high wedges or paired with tights, boots, and an oversized cardigan for work. I need my party-dresses to be able to go from day to night. Anything I can layer with is a bonus.”
Laura,
“This dress really hits the party circuit. It’s sheer, it’s warm, and loves to be dolled up with a cute headband.
It’s also a noteworthy piece, because I found it at H&M for $10 in NYC. Yes, $10…. which then justified buying an $85 dollar headband from Henri Bendel to wear with it.”

Lauren,

“The LBD is always the best go-to party dress and this one by Nanette Lepore is both work- and cocktail-party appropriate. I love the lean silhouette, knotted asymmetrical neckline and side pockets…which make it more than just another run-of-the-mill LBD. Now it just needs to be spruced up with some accessories!”
