The Splendid List: Summer Fashion

With the heat of summer in full effect, I asked some of my favorite bloggers…
“What is your favorite go-to summer piece??”

“My go-to piece for summer is without a doubt a pair of sandals. it’s difficult to narrow it down but yes sandals would be the piece. Why? because it’s the way I feel summer is here, even if I’m wearing jeans for example. And I love how they can add a pop of color to any outfit! I also love flip flops, havaianas to be more precise! I don’t wear them in the office but practically everywhere else, I know it’s a faux pas but I love them too much, have been wearing them for almost 12 years now non stop!”

Helena,

“When the heat hits, my long, thick hair becomes too hot around my neck. So I hike up my hair in a bun, and dress up the mess with a new Henri Bendel headband that I splurge on while in Manhattan for the May trade shows. It’s my simplest trick for glamming up {when secretly cooling down}.”
Lauren Bryan Knight,
“I discovered my summer go-to piece from my mom, which is funny because we usually wear very different styles, especially when it comes to shoes.  The Bass Margie sandal is the exception to that mother-daughter fashion rule — they are super-comfortable (thus meeting mom’s criteria) but still look good (which is appealing to me).  I liked my first pair so much that I bought them in two more colors the following summer. I even saw them being sold at the Steven Alan boutique in Brooklyn, which was pretty flattering to my mom!”
Melissa,
“My go-to summer piece is less of a piece and more a state of mind! A pale polish makes me feel tan, lady like, and ready for summer. Plus, treating myself to a pedicure is my new favorite activity. It gives me some ‘me’ time and lets me feel pampered and pretty for not a lot of cash.”

Beth Dotolo,
