A surprise party… gone awry!

An early surprise birthday brunch for my 30th Birthday this past weekend was amazing!
Although the picture above is how it ended… it’s not how it started.
And, I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Because, that’s just who we are.
Here’s how the story unfolded…
Clue No. 1
It started with me thinking I was going to brunch with our friends Mr & Mrs Social Thread. (All of our friends have blogs in this story!) And, strangely enough my husband booked reservations for our brunch at The Mansion in Dallas. Kevin is not that fancy.
Clue No. 2
I was feeling really sick and almost didn’t get out of bed. But, Kevin hopped me up on cold medicine and, in the sweetest way possible, told me to ‘pull it together’.
Clue No. 3
A coworker had let it slip that a certain Aspiring Kennedy was in town from England for a visit.
A very tightly cropped skype date with Lauren quickly calmed my suspicions. She fooled me good!
Clue No. 4
We were the first to arrive and the hostess let it slip that there was a party of TEN!
SURPRISE!!!
Kind of…
I spent the next 15 min just hanging out waiting for everyone to arrive without any clue who was coming… That was really not part of the plan. But, it kinda felt like a fun game of ‘who’s coming to brunch?’!
Then Mr & Mrs Social Thread arrived…
and then…
The big surprise!
Aspiring Kennedy was, in fact, in town from Oxford and helped throw the whole bash!
Only Lauren would throw a party for someone else and have the big surprise be HERSELF.
That’s honestly why I love her.
Then the comedy of errors that followed is almost too long to explain. But, it basically involved some serious miscommunication that ended in each of the remaining attendees trickling in over the next hour. It was hysterical!! And, like I said, I wouldn’t have it any other way…

And, please ignore my dilated pupils and starry gaze. I was not completely with it!
I have to say… despite all the clues, I really had absolutely NO idea!!
I was genuinely and most pleasantly surprised.
Thanks so much to my dear friends, Mr. & Mrs. Social Thread, Something Legit, Ervin Cowboy, & Cashmere Cowboy, for being such a fun
part of my life.
And, I especially thank my sweet Kevin and dear friend Lauren (aka Aspiring Kennedy)
for making my early birthday so special!
Don’t you just love good friends?
