The Pulp Edit: April 2017
Heading up our favorite trends this month are metallics, dynamic wall coverings, and pop art with a twist… See below for more on our top 10 home trends for April 2017.
We’re advocates of the “final 15” approach here at Pulp: adding art and accessories to make a room feel finished — the final 15 percent of the design. This approach can be especially easy to take in a living room or bedroom, but we believe even the kitchen should be accessorized. Add bar tools and fun pieces to make the room feel finished.
Our friend Susan Jamieson — who we met through the DXV Design Panel 2016 — has a line of beautiful wall coverings and fabrics that we’re obsessing over. This design, Buscemi in the color Bling Bling, is a gorgeous compilation of matte blues and metallic silvers.
We’re always fans of art that feels true to a home owner’s style sensibilities — this fun twist on the Mona Lisa is an eye-catching homage to a playful state of mind. Art by Daniel Maltzman, featured in Luxe Magazine.
These playful and sculptural bench legs immediately make this otherwise-simplistic room feel more high-end. The clear focal point of the room, these brass legs are a functional piece of art. Design by Amelia Handegan, featured in Veranda Magazine.
Muted, moody hues are the latest colors for spring. We’re loving these matte, muted purples, greens and a wide variety of neutral shades. We’re anticipating seeing this color palette in home decor across the board: wall coverings, furniture, and furnishings. Image from Luxe Magazine.
We’re over focal walls — a singular wall painted a different color than the rest of the walls in the room. While that look can feel dated, we’re loving a new trend for walls: making the wall covering the focal point of the space. Adding neutral furniture and accessories while choosing a dynamic print for your walls creates a gorgeous space. This dynamic wall covering is by Kelly Wearstler.
We’re heading to High Point Market this month, where we’ll be scoping out new pieces for projects we’re working on and seeing new items from manufacturers we already use and love. We’re in love with this new bed frame from Bernhardt and can’t wait to see it in person!
Perennials‘ new indoor/outdoor rug collection has some of the softest outdoor rugs we’ve ever laid our hands on. Stain resistant and easily cleanable, these durable pieces also feature gorgeous colors and patterns we’re excited to use in upcoming projects.
Marble mosaics aren’t going out of style any time soon — this Cosmati mosaic from ANN Sacks is completely drool-worthy. Filled with layered neutrals and pops of black and white, these tiles are one of our all-time favorites.
This large-scale wall covering by NewWall is an electric combination of golds, whites and dreamy aubergine. With threads of metallic running through the piece, the gold catches the light as it changes in the room and adds a dynamic pop to the space.
