How We Made Sure Our Clients’ Were Back to School Ready Through Interior Design
We first introduced this project a couple months back when we took you through the process of curating their art collection. We just recently wrapped their project after working our way through designing their entire home. But, before the final reveal, we’ll continue to share the behind-the-scenes moments that made this amazing home what it turned out to be!
Up to bat this week are the kids rooms. This project was off to a unique start because we signed on in the late spring and had to have the kids’ bedrooms finished before school started at the end of the summer. Crunch time!
Designing Kids Rooms with Function + Style
To bring you up to speed on the background of this project, our clients initially purchased a new home that needed major renovations, but after starting in on the project realized it was just too big a task to take on. So they decided to search for a home that had great bones, but that they could still personalize and make into their own. That’s where we came in.
THE TIMELINE
By the time they settled on the home they knew they wanted to invest in, it was spring and the kids needed finished spaces to live in by the start of school. So we worked some of our major design magic to bring three kids’ rooms to completion just in time. Three months may seem like tons of time to the non-design world, but when it comes to concepting, purchasing, receiving and installing a space, this is what we call a sprint.
THE INSPIRATION
These clients are really laid back and flexible… and super trusting! Just like the design for the rest of the house, our clients gave us total creative license over their space. We wanted to make their rooms something that they could grow into, while keeping things playful and fun. They’re kids, after all! And at the end of the day, kids are hard on their things so we wanted to bring in furnishings that were super durable and functional.
THE FINAL DESIGN
Each of our three mini-clients have rooms full of personality, organization and style! While each room is distinct, we included a few elements throughout that you just can’t go without when it comes to kids. We gave each of them some sort of pushpin board where they can display their artwork and get creative, without looking messy. We also integrated shelving for them to display their trophies, hats and favorite items; This is a great way to create organization, while bringing in personality!
And of course, we selecting plenty of fun textiles, furnishings and artwork! But you’ll just have to wait for the final reveal to see! In the meantime, check out some of our must-have kids decor…
