Chocolate Bar NYC

Chocolate Bar NYC

I just must share one of my favorite places in all of NYC (though I think I may have mentioned it before)! The Chocolate Bar NYC is a sweet spot we always hit when visiting the city. It’s right by one of our interior design projects & it’s near one of the photo studios that Kevin shoots at. Take a look at the goodies my hubby brought back for me from his recent trip…

  1. The Chocolate Bowl: Well this wasn’t from my latest goody bag. I picked this up on the trip that Kevin & I we’re engaged on. It was designed by Jonathan Adler exclusively for the Chocolate Bar.
  2. Chocolate Bars: My favorites are the salty & sweet varieties. Here we have mole, dark salty pretzel, and dark sea salt. delish!
  3. S’mores: To many, these may look like a pair of turds, but let me tell you… they are the most delicious thing you may ever put in your mouth! The house made marshmallow, the graham crackers, and the chocolate create the most amazing texture.
  4. Chocolate Mint Patty Tea: It’s like drinking a thin mint. amazing!

So, if you’re in the city, you must stop by! Grab a chocolate beverage and some goodies. If you’re not in the city, shop online.

Are you a sweet fan or a savory lover? I’ve been noticing a serious split in preference among my friends lately!

Splendid Inspiration :: Read!

This reminded me that I really need to turn off the tv sometimes and dig into my book! I’m not going to pretend to be a scholarly reader… Right now, I’m reading the Vampire Academy series (I know – but, it’s sooooo good!), recommended by my friend Betsy. My hubby is reading The Hunger Games and hasn’t been able to put it down. Carolina has been reading The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo, and says it’s amazing.

So, do you read?? (Silly question, but not for some!) Have any great recommendations?

Thrift Studio by Dwell With Dignity!

Dwell With Dignity Thrift Studio

I’ve been talking about this for weeks now & I’m finally getting around to posting the completed pictures of our completed vignettes. The event was a smashing success, raising thousands (and I mean thousands), for Dwell With Dignity. Without further ado, here is our Pulp Design Studios vignette…

We had a ton of help from some of our vendors & from our Neiman Marcus volunteers (pictured below). A huge thanks to Paloma Creations, Modern Relics, Dragon Street Storage, Phoenix Designs, LDF Silk, Studio Design Lab, and our super fab intern Heather Morrow (who painted the gorgeous art above the fireplace!). The challenge was to pull items from the Dwell With Dignity warehouse to create a vignette. Here’s what we had to start with…

Some of our amazing designer friends in town also created some vignettes! It was such a great mutually supportive project and all the designs turned out amazing (and all so different!). Below are the spectacular spaces created by (shown in this order) William Baker of Jones Baker, Sam of Style/SWOON, Abbe Fenimore of Studio Ten 25, and Emily Johnston of Material Girls. Amazing, right!?

A huge congrats to Lisa and Kim of Dwell With Dignity for a hugely successful event! And, we can’t forget to mention the rockstar, Jody Hall, who is the Thrift Studio manager. If you’re in Dallas, go visit him now through the end of the month and shop the Thrift Studio! If you’re not in Dallas, go donate or become a member of this amazing organization who is saving lives through design.

So, what do you think of the vignettes?? Which one is your favorite?

earning his keep

Maxton is getting to that age where he is just becoming so much fun! Remember how big he was when I first started this blog?? It’s amazing how much he’s grown and I’m amazed at him everyday. Last week, he crawled into my chair at the office and pretends to work like his Momma & at home we’ve been teaching him to feed our pup, Lila. Hey, it’s good to teach responsibility young. And, it makes him feel pretty big time.

Can you believe how much he’s grown??

Objects of Splendor :: Native Americana

I am so hopping on this fall trend! I love the earthy, yet bold & graphic, feel of the Native American styles showing up this season. I am dying for that luggage bag and, ooooh, the wallpaper. I’ve got to source that.

What do you think of this fall trend?
