Pulp Design Studios and The Mine Home and Entertaining Goods Pop Up Shop with Dimensional Credenza, Round Mirror and Human Figure Sculpture Accessory

An Inside Look at an Interior Designer Pop-Up Shop Event

It’s been a month (gasp!) since our pop-up shop and preview party with The Mine. It’s safe to say that we are still living through the photos of a night full of celebration, shopping and champagne toasts  as we launched our latest collection of home goods, Kismet Lounge, into the retail world.

Tapping into a few of our favorite interior styles this year, like dimensional furniture and human forms, we created a showroom-style design exuding texture and luxury from every angle to live in our Seattle studio during the pop-up. After all, it wouldn’t be a designer party without a coveted curation to set the scene.

Our entire studio was filled with shopable product highlighting our Kismet Lounge collection of entertaining and gift goods. We designed the studio to illustrate the versatility of the collection, giving our party-goers a taste of each item as the perfect gift, barware accessory or elevated tabletop finish.

Local designers, media and our friends and family in the Pacific Northwest were invited to our Seattle studio to be the first to shop our Kismet Lounge collection, ahead of the weekend-long pop up that followed. Pulp loves a good party, especially when interior design, product design and champagne are all involved. It’s always an unforgettable time when our team can come together to celebrate hard work and pretty things!

An inside look and the progress of an interior design renovation of a handsome high rise apartment

The First Look at a Handsome High-Rise In Progress

As part of our Three-Step Design Process, we are taking you on a tour through projects that are currently in progress. It will be a fun look into who we’re working with, what made them want to hire a designer and how we are working with our clients to help solve some key design challenges that will improve their daily experience. Plus, you’ll get a glimpse at some of our designs before they’re completed!

Step One: Consultation + Intake

Before- Handsome High_Rise.001 Before- Handsome High_Rise.002Before- Handsome High_Rise.003

Q: WHO IS THE CLIENT AND WHAT IS THEIR SCOPE OF WORK?

This client recently purchased a one bedroom high-rise and was ready to fill the plain and empty space with style to make it feel like home. While the space may be small, it is not lacking in luxury or potential. Our client was looking for a pulled-together comfortable and modern space that is equally beautiful in each room.

Q: WHY DID THE CLIENT DECIDE TO HIRE AN INTERIOR DESIGNER RATHER THAN TAKING THE PROJECT ON THEMSELVES?

Our client came to us after deciding he was ready to invest in a beautiful space that could be enjoyed by himself and visitors alike. He turned to Pulp to bring in the needed expert vision and knowledge required to achieve the put together space he was dreaming of.

Step Two: The Design Phase

Here’s where we took everything we learned from our client at our consultation and intake process and put all that information and our creativity to work for our client. We started really getting to know our client, their vision of their home and how they tend to “do life” in each room. Then we started by gathering inspiration from our client in the form of a Pinterest board and began to collaborate on the design between our offices.

Pulp Design Studios Scheme

Q: WHAT IS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE NEW DESIGN?

Through our Splendid Living approach, we learned that our client loved blues, grays and browns and spent a lot of time in each space due to the size of the apartment. We took this information and decided to dream up a cohesive space that had handsome neutrals, inspired art and refined little luxuries in each room. We wanted to design something for our client that would be jaw-dropping no matter the room.

Q: WHAT WAS A UNIQUE DESIGN CHALLENGE AND HOW IS PULP SOLVING THE PROBLEM?

One of the things our client described wanting for his space was a hotel-like feeling. We wanted to create a space that was handsome and luxurious without it feeling unapproachable and unlivable. There is a fine line between high-style luxury and unattainable design, so we kicked off the project with the intent on striking the perfect balance. Creating livable luxury for our clients is central to Pulp’s design philosophy, so we sourced high-quality furnishings that still felt inviting and homey.

Step Three: Installation and Execution

We are waiting on pins and needles to install this project! Be sure to follow us on Instagram to catch the latest design updates. Stay tuned for more…

Happy Thanksgiving From Pulp!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We hope all of our clients, fellow designers and followers are enjoying a splendid day filled with delectable food, tasty drinks and quality family time. We wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for everything you’ve added to Pulp this year.

It’s been our busiest year yet and we couldn’t be more excited for the projects that have come our way. At the end of the day, nothing we have accomplished this year would be possible without the support and fearlessness we are greeted with each day from our amazing clients and community. This year, we’ll be toasting to the adventurous, loving and super cool group we are lucky enough to call the Pulp family — that’s you!

Salute!
