New Pulp Home Product: Agate Collection

If there is one seriously emerging trend in the design world right now, it’s agate. And we’re happy to say that we’re staying on top of things by introducing a new collection of agate pieces on Pulp Home. Organic but graphic, primitive yet sophisticated, the sliced agate pieces (either artistically displayed on acrylic stands or adorning lacquered and acrylic boxes) are an impeccable way to introduce natural form beauty with contemporary, jewel-toned luxe. And they make for solidly stylish gifts, of course.

Bedroom Installation: #PonderTransitional

While we were in the midst of a whole-home installation at our Pulp Design Studios #PonderTransitional project, we snapped a few shots of the bedroom progress… We simply love how this room is earthy and soothing with unexpected pops of blue and plum.

 

We’ve since completed this project and will be photographing it next year after all the holiday madness. But, in the meantime…

 

How gorgeous are the pillows in this project? That embroidered snake pillow from our shop is just stunning in person. And, we love how the the chain link embroidered pillow add a bit of subtly graphic pattern to the bed.

As we count down the last few days before Thanksgiving, the Pulp Design Studios‘ team is gearing up for some cozy downtime with family and friends. New Pulp Home Product: Barware

It’s no secret that we like ourselves a smart cocktail around Pulp Design Studios. (After the workday is done, mind you.) Needless to say, we are over the moon with the new line of barware that we’ve gotten in at Pulp Home! Gorgeous modern decanters that make for an elegant upgrade in your home or a perfect hostess gift just in time for holiday entertaining.

While these beauties are bound to spruce up the home bar and make your spirits bright, there are so many ways you could use these throughout the house. For a luxe spa experience, these would make a perfectly polished addition in the bathroom for holding favorite bath salts or gels. Use them to contain various cooking oils and vinegars and ditch the dull from the kitchen counter. Imagine juice or maple syrup being dispensed from these? Talk about taking Christmas Morning breakfast up a notch! Even the drudgery of laundry could be elevated if you were dispensing your laundry detergent and fabric softener from a decanter. The Pulp Design Studios design team has been making progress at our project in Trophy Club, Texas. We are transforming this custom home into something glamorous and stylish for our client who loves a touch of drama in her interiors. Here’s a little peek into what we’ve got happening so far…

Lots of great patterns and color for our bold client here! We’ve struck a balance with over-the-top, yet grounded and serene… And, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Lots more to come on this fabulous project!

#HighlandParkContemporary Sneak Peek

At Pulp Design Studios, we are nearing completion of a whole-home renovation in Dallas’ prestigious Highland Park Neighborhood. We just had to pop in to show you just a bit of what to expect from this project that we’ve had such an amazing time working on…

We took our client’s contemporary inclination and completed a successful renovation that will blow you away when we share the before and after photos. We’ve layered on subtle patterns and textures to create a warmth rarely seen in contemporary spaces. We are so excited to share this gorgeous and functional space with you when all is said and done, but we couldn’t resist the tease of these peeks from the latest installation.

Entertaining + Gifting: How To Make Bitters

You might remember my post titled “Postcards from an aspiring mixologist…”? It seems my journey in learning about the art of the cocktail generated quite a bit of interest! And then something funny happened… I got pregnant. Well, after a bit of a boozing hiatus, I am gearing up to join the cocktail-ing world again!

 

What are bitters? Bitters are a spirit based botanical-infused liquors used in cocktails as an aperitif or digestif. You can actually concoct different infusions for different digestion purposes.

 

Since bitters making is quite the timely process (about 3 weeks) and with the holidays coming, I thought a little re-visit into making bitters was in order. Not only will they be done in time for a delicious cocktail after my little bundle of joy arrives, but they also make a great gift for friends and family who love a good drink as much as you do…

 

So, rather than head to the bar, enjoy your home this holiday season (hopefully it’s Pulp-designed) and mix up some cocktails in style!  Here’s a peek into the bitters making process, complete with a printable recipe…

 

A view into the first step of making your own bitters… combined aromatic bitters and booze. 

 

Just after step 2 in the process, where you separate the solids from the liquid. My homemade simple syrup and both parts of the bitters are waiting to be introduced to each other. 

 

Completed homemade bitters just waiting to be gifted to my cocktail-loving friends.

 

As you can see, bitters making is quite the process. Though it takes a few weeks to make, it really is a pretty easy process! Don’t let it overwhelm you and just give it a try… Once you’ve done it once, you’ll feel like quite the accomplished mixologist.
