From Paper to Product: Geometrics

Hi everyone! Firstly, I want to thank Beth and Carolina for bringing me on as a contributor on Hello, Splendor. I’m a graphic designer and blogger but interior design and styling have a special place in my heart since I wanted to be an interior designer when I was a kid. (Especially after Sweet Valley Kids and reading about how the Wakefield twins’ mom was an interior designer— does anyone else remember that?) Good design is good design whether it’s in the form of graphic design, interior design, fashion design or product design. I’m here to share my monthly column ‘From Paper to Product’ which explores how different trends and styles can permeate from graphic design into interior decorating. I’ll be providing a few examples of graphic design and then featuring home products that mirror the style or trend I’m highlighting.

This month, the focus is on geometric shapes. Geometric shapes in design can now be found everywhere and their use is no longer limited to minimal or Swiss design. Geometric shapes are now being used in ways that are soft, feminine and sometimes even organic. I’ve highlighted products that cover the gamut of ways these shapes can be found in home decor. Out of the products above, I’m especially drawn to the clock, wallpaper and terrarium because I love mixing clean lines with organic shapes. Let me know if any of these products catch your eye!
