Pulp Sourcebook: #ElegantRenovation Master Bedroom

Interior Design by Pulp Design Studios

Today we’re sharing the Master Bedroom from our #ElegantRenovation project as part of our Sourcebook series. We transformed this Master Bedroom into a serene and elegant Master Suite, delivering a quality design and end-product that met the client’s needs stylishly, functionally, and within budget.

Pulp Design Studios designed every piece of furniture in this Master Suite and tailored it to our client’s style. The modern wing back bed’s sleek shape adds a sexy touch, while the cane-front case goods maintain classic sentiment. Custom drapery treatments and upholstered Admiral chairs add a high-contrast and dynamic feel, while offering a sense of comfort and style. While custom can be luxe, it creates a singular style rooted in quality and individuality. (And Pulp clients get special pricing on custom goods and never have to pay full retail on our custom pieces.) With the stylish finishes, and exquisite accessories, this space delivers on timelessness with a modern edge.

Whether you just love what we do and want to create it for yourself or you have a space that you’d love to get the ‘Pulp treatment’, we hope that this series inspires you to live more beautifully. And if you’d like to hire us (And, really… you should hire us! wink. wink.), get in touch and tell us about your project!

Note: Color is, in essence, reflections of light and one’s surroundings. As a result, the color you see in our client’s space would certainly translate differently into your own. If you are not working with a designer, play with paint samples on various walls in your space to see if you get the effect you want. We would also be glad to provide you with a consultation if that would be valuable. We want your space to reflect its own beauty, and your style.

Pulp Sourcebook: #CuratedComfort Nursery

#CuratedComfort Nursery

Interior Design by Pulp Design Studios

In today’s Sourcebook, we’re sharing the nursery from our Curated Comfort project. We took on a fashion-forward business owner as our client in Dallas, Texas. Due to the nature of their business and the fact that she and her husband were expecting their first child, this client’s residence had to be completed both with the utmost of style and in a hurry… No small feat! Keeping those goals in mind, we adapted our services to fit the needs of our client in order to create the sophisticated, comfortable, casual look they wanted. We played with pattern and nothing was matchy-matchy and, in the end, creatively cultivated an amazing space that reflected their individuality.

Pulp Sourcebook: Colorful Abode Living Room

Pulp Sourcebook Colorful Abode

Interior Design by Pulp Design Studios

We’re back with another installment in our Pulp Sourcebook series! This space is an oldie but a goodie – and we get lots of inquiries so we thought we’d share some insight.

This client had a major obsession with Jonathan Adler, so we used many of his pieces in the design scheme to achieve a look that reflected the client’s inspiration. The living room presented a challenge with its awkward layout so we created symmetry through the placement of the furnishings and the Chariklia Zarris’ Modern Symmetry prints above the midcentury sofa. And, using color strategically, we created a space that is as colorful as it is serene and sophisticated.

Blown Away by Bernhardt

It’s been two weeks since we returned from High Point Market, but we are still reeling from the warm welcome we received from Bernhardt. We more than appreciate them bringing the Pulp team to High Point to tour their showroom, but what we really took away from our trip was what we gained by being reintroduced to this amazing line…

First, see what we’re talking about for yourself:

The first thing that struck us was the aestetic. Bernhardt was established in 1889 and is built on a strong tradition of quality & style, but they’ve managed to modernize their line for today, while still holding on to their signature timelessness. It’s a genius blend of today, yesterday, & tomorrow. Honestly, scroll back up through those images… Just stunning.

At closer look, you notice the quality and thoughtful design details. 4,000 hand-hammered nail heads on one piece, intricate inlay, exquisite drawer closures, drop-down drawer fronts for entertainment media…. all details that have the end-user in mind. These details are so important to us as designers, because we know we’re bringing more than just beauty to our clients.

So, we’ve got the details and the style of a high-end luxury brand… you think the prices will be outrageous, yes? You wouldn’t believe it. One of our mottos at Pulp Design Studios is that Pulp brings value to the luxury market, and Bernhardt couldn’t align more perfectly with our company’s values with their price points. They are so affordable for our clients that we found ourselves ashamed for not using them more often! We are still in shock and awe.

Actually, we’ve presented close to 15 of Bernhardt’s pieces for our projects in the mere two weeks we’ve been back in the office since visiting the showroom.

And, almost as memorable as their furniture were the people. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners of Bernhardt, which is still a family business. We also spent a few hours with Heather Eidenmiller – Director of Brand Development,  Ron Fiore – Creative Director, and Stephanie Lowder – PR Specialist. They were so incredibly lovely and gave us the royal treatment. It was amazing to hear the thought process behind the designs and experience the thoughtfulness of the individuals behind the company’s success… (not to mention having a few great laughs together). It was a great treat and one of the most meaningful experiences at High Point, to date.

We not only came back feeling inspired, but we’ve come back with some amazing design tools that will benefit our clients and bring value to our business…. Just amazing. Designers, take note.

Really and truly…. Thank you, Bernhardt!

Work In Progress: Designing A Fabulous Entry

If you’re following Pulp on Instagram, you’ve seen the progress of our client’s Entry over the past couple of months (Truthfully, you can find us on Instagram daily! It’s an easy share when we don’t have the time to blog).

It’s exciting to see a design go from paper, to mock-up, to installation… See how this entry has progressed, so far:

Our next step, is to work in a little finesse and add the furnishings, art, and accessories. But, for now, with just a little paint and some new lighting we’ve turned a beige Foyer into and an exciting Entry that will be sure to spark the conversation of our client’s guests and set the tone for the rest of the home that Pulp Design Studios is designing… Stay tuned!

Fabulous, yes?!?

Pulp Sourcebook: Modern Craftsman Master Bedroom

Interior Design by Pulp Design Studios

We get so many requests on a weekly and daily basis asking us what paint color we used on our projects and where we got certain items. Not only is it hard to respond to so many requests, but we are also, at times doing an injustice by providing information that may not work for them (and, that our clients paid for!). Paint is a tricky thing and changes with lighting & the items that are reflecting off of it. Hence, our little disclosure at the bottom of this post!

Nonetheless, we decided that we didn’t want to leave everyone hanging… We do love to share! So, instead, we’re sharing some inspiration. We selected a few colors that, depending on the lighting in your home, would serve as a good starting point for those trying to achieve the look from our interiors, along with a shopping sourcebook on Pulp Home.

Bernhardt + Pulp at High Point Market

All images from Bernhardt

To say that we are a fan of Bernhardt is an understatement. Throughout our careers as interior designers in the hospitality, commercial, and residential markets, Bernhardt has set a standard for style and craftsmanship. They didn’t earn High Point Market‘s Best In Show last fall for nothing! In a world of fast-paced style, many manufacturers have lost the time-honored craftsmanship of furniture making. Bernhardt has been creating superb quality furniture since 1889 and hasn’t lost sight of their roots in quality craftsmanship, while still maintaining innovation & modern style. We’ve seen some previews from Spring Market and we are so excited to see what they will be premiering at High Point in April!

As long time fans and customers, we are so thrilled and honored to have Bernhardt sponsor our trip to High Point Market in April. We will be touring their showroom, speaking with DecorMentor on the changing design industry, discovering new goods for our interior design clients and shop…. and, of course, sharing all of it with you. We will show you why we are so smitten by Bernhardt and if you didn’t love them already, we’ll turn you into believers and show you the value of the quality and style Bernhardt offers in their pieces.

Until we can share more with you next month, stop by the Bernhardt website to see the gorgeous pieces you’ve likely been coveting in design magazines for years.

And, join us on Wednesday, March 20th, at 6-7 pm EST for a twitter chat where we, along with other top designers from DecorMentor, will share their favorite product previews for April Market. It’s a great opportunity to discover new products and see what styles are trending. Of course, we’ll be sharing new introductions from Bernhardt, among others, on @PulpDesigns twitter.

Before + After: London Nursery & Apartment Therapy

photos by Eleanor Busing

Today a little nursery we designed is featured on Apartment Therapy

When we heard that our dear friends Lauren & Tyler, who live in London, were expecting (twins, no less!!) we were so thrilled for them. And, even more thrilled when they asked us to help design their nursery. We had a serious budget (seriously), we were working with a rental where you couldn’t paint or do much else, it is a crazy small space (their whole flat us 800 sq ft!), and we were working remotely… So, we got to work and took on this fun challenge! And, really, not many people are more fun than Lauren & Tyler.

Here’s what we started with…

With the use of temporary wallpaper, Ikea (a designer’s worst enemy, but a budget’s best friend), and with a few assignments that required a little bit of elbow grease… we helped them create a great little nursery that is infused with their personality and tells their story. We even snuck in a few goodies from Pulp Home.

Now, just scroll back up to see that ‘After’ again.

Their two little girls are coming any minute… literally. Little girls, we can’t wait to meet you and we’re so glad to have helped you with your very first room!
