Pulp Sourcebook: Modern Craftsman Master Bedroom

Interior Design by Pulp Design Studios

We get so many requests on a weekly and daily basis asking us what paint color we used on our projects and where we got certain items. Not only is it hard to respond to so many requests, but we are also, at times doing an injustice by providing information that may not work for them (and, that our clients paid for!). Paint is a tricky thing and changes with lighting & the items that are reflecting off of it. Hence, our little disclosure at the bottom of this post!

Nonetheless, we decided that we didn’t want to leave everyone hanging… We do love to share! So, instead, we’re sharing some inspiration. We selected a few colors that, depending on the lighting in your home, would serve as a good starting point for those trying to achieve the look from our interiors, along with a shopping sourcebook on Pulp Home.

Whether you hire us to help execute an incredible space that unique to you or you just love what we do and want to create it for yourself, we’re going to continue this series in hopes that you’re inspired to live beautifully. (But, really… you should hire us! wink. wink.)

Note: Color is in essence, reflections of light and one’s surroundings. As a result, the color you see in our clients space would certainly translate differently into your own. If you are not working with a designer, play with paint samples on various walls in your space to see if you get the effect you want. We would also be glad to provide you with a consultation if that would be valuable. We want your space to reflect it’s own beauty, and your style.

Bernhardt + Pulp at High Point Market

All images from Bernhardt

To say that we are a fan of Bernhardt is an understatement. Throughout our careers as interior designers in the hospitality, commercial, and residential markets, Bernhardt has set a standard for style and craftsmanship. They didn’t earn High Point Market‘s Best In Show last fall for nothing! In a world of fast-paced style, many manufacturers have lost the time-honored craftsmanship of furniture making. Bernhardt has been creating superb quality furniture since 1889 and hasn’t lost sight of their roots in quality craftsmanship, while still maintaining innovation & modern style. We’ve seen some previews from Spring Market and we are so excited to see what they will be premiering at High Point in April!

As long time fans and customers, we are so thrilled and honored to have Bernhardt sponsor our trip to High Point Market in April. We will be touring their showroom, speaking with DecorMentor on the changing design industry, discovering new goods for our interior design clients and shop…. and, of course, sharing all of it with you. We will show you why we are so smitten by Bernhardt and if you didn’t love them already, we’ll turn you into believers and show you the value of the quality and style Bernhardt offers in their pieces.

Until we can share more with you next month, stop by the Bernhardt website to see the gorgeous pieces you’ve likely been coveting in design magazines for years.

And, join us on Wednesday, March 20th, at 6-7 pm EST for a twitter chat where we, along with other top designers from DecorMentor, will share their favorite product previews for April Market. It’s a great opportunity to discover new products and see what styles are trending. Of course, we’ll be sharing new introductions from Bernhardt, among others, on @PulpDesigns twitter.

Pulp Home Shop Pick: Tamil Horse Lamp

As you probably know, everything in our shop, PulpHome.com, has been used in our design projects or designed by us. But, even we have favorites! This week, we’re showing you one of our favorite shop picks…

The Tamil Horse Lamp!

Carolina owns this lamp herself and Beth is about to place an order for her bedroom. Why do we love it? Well, it has an eclectic look that can be infused into even the most modern of spaces. It has sexy lines and interesting details. It puts off enough light to brighten a room. And, it has that fabulous toggle switch on it’s base!

Go ahead, you can copy us… We’ll even give you a discount.

Order the Tamil Horse Lamp by Sunday, March 3rd, and get 15% OFF. Just use coupon code: PULPHOMESPLENDIDPICK!

Do you like this shop pick feature, with additional product photos & an exclusive reader discount?? Let us know! If so, we’ll keep sharing the love here on Hello, Splendor.

Before + After: London Nursery & Apartment Therapy

photos by Eleanor Busing

Today a little nursery we designed is featured on Apartment Therapy

When we heard that our dear friends Lauren & Tyler, who live in London, were expecting (twins, no less!!) we were so thrilled for them. And, even more thrilled when they asked us to help design their nursery. We had a serious budget (seriously), we were working with a rental where you couldn’t paint or do much else, it is a crazy small space (their whole flat us 800 sq ft!), and we were working remotely… So, we got to work and took on this fun challenge! And, really, not many people are more fun than Lauren & Tyler.

Here’s what we started with…

With the use of temporary wallpaper, Ikea (a designer’s worst enemy, but a budget’s best friend), and with a few assignments that required a little bit of elbow grease… we helped them create a great little nursery that is infused with their personality and tells their story. We even snuck in a few goodies from Pulp Home.

Now, just scroll back up to see that ‘After’ again.

Their two little girls are coming any minute… literally. Little girls, we can’t wait to meet you and we’re so glad to have helped you with your very first room!

Work in Progress: Selecting Stone

Innovative finish selections can be the most fun part of our job… It’s great when homeowners step outside of their comfort zone and allow us to design a home that rich with unique finishes, yet still keeping functionality and home value in mind.

When we posted this photo on our instagram and facebook of the stone selection in progress at a slab yard with our client, we got alot of feedback! So, we thought we’d ask you…

Eeenie meenie miney mo… We’re going for drama!

Which stone would you want us to choose for YOU?

The Life of a Custom Chair…

If you’ve been following along on our pulp instagram, you’ve seen this little chair through it’s custom process…. We thought we’d share some of the process all in one place! Custom is definitley a process that takes a piece from a designer’s imagination, to sketch, to fruition, and then into a stylish interior.

We love designing custom pieces for our design clients and for our shop customers, not because custom gives you something luxurious that no one else has… but, because it allows us to tailor items to our client’s needs. This dining chair style is perfect for this space, but it also functions. The outside back fabric is dynamic, while the interior is a wipeable material that will keep this chair lasting a lifetime. For some, it’s just worth the investment to do it right the first time.

We think this chair has many delicious meals and great conversations in it’s future…

We can’t wait to show you the complete space soon!

Pulp Takes NYC!

[original photo by Kevin Dotolo]

Today we are crossing the continent to meet in NYC for some Pulp Design client work and for some exciting Pulp Home opportunities (that I’m sure you’ll hear about soon)…

Carolina is heading in from Dallas and Beth from Seattle! We are so excited to get to spend some quality time in the city. It’s always great when we get face time to brainstorm, plan, and just get some good ol’ quality friend time in.

It’ll be mostly business, but all fun. That being said, we won’t be present on the blog for the next week or so…

But, you can get some sneak peeks into what were working on and where we’re playing by following us on instagram:

PULP Custom: Acrylic Shelf with Vase

It’s amazing how much coordination and design can go into one little piece… As product designers working on our own line of goodies, we know that better than anyone. But, it’s amazing to see that piece when it all comes together and gets installed.

We just installed this custom shelf we designed for our Pulp Design Studios client. Simple as it is, this shelf added something really special to this modern powder bath.

We’re looking forward to seeing what kind of fresh flowers our client adds to this chic little bud vase!

If this was your shelf, what would you add to that chic little bud vase?
